ANNA CHANDLER VELVET THROW KARABAGH
This design is like opening Anna’s cupboard of textile treasures gathered over a lifetime of travel and exploring off the beaten track. Karabagh (Black garden) refers to the dazzling floral flat-weave kelim rugs from Azerbaijan, often woven against a black background, which have been interspersed with a kaleidoscopic patchwork of vibrant tribal textiles collected by Anna on her many trips to the most exotic places. Uzbek suzanis, Ikat fragments from Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, kelims from far-flung destinations along the Silk Road, scraps of ancient flea-market braid from Rajasthan. A feast for lovers of textiles and embroidery.
